February…one of my favorite months to teach at an elementary school. It's the month of kindness, friendship, love, and Valentine's Day fun. February math centers is one way I like to implement this theme along with some authentic learning of course. Keep your students learning and diving deep with their math skills through the entire month with these 10 math centers.

Let's take a closer look at a few of these centers…
First to Five – Counting Money
Students take turns spinning and working their way around a game board, counting coins along the way. It is helpful to provide real or fake coins for students to lay on their mats for hands-on counting practice. The first to $5 wins. Students will not even realize they are working on a skill.

Win a Heart – 3-Digit Subtraction with Regrouping
Another board game format, this center can be played in a couple of different ways.
Version 1: Students lay their game pieces on the answers they solve. The first player to lay down all game pieces wins.
Version 2: Add another layer of fun by playing it as a bump game. Students still lay their game pieces on the answers they solve, but they can “bump” another player's game piece off the board.

This game provides subtraction with regrouping practice that most students so desperately need, while using a fun format.
Jar of Hearts – Place Value
Students will test their place value skills while matching base ten and standard forms of numbers. To add more kinesthetic learning, lay out place value blocks for students to double check their answers.

Hundred Chart Puzzles – Counting to 120
Who doesn't love a good puzzle? How about a puzzle that turns into a 120 chart?! Students will have fun putting together their chart puzzles, while practice number sense. Try having speed rounds, where students race to create their charts first.

Heart Cookies – Base Ten Blocks
This sweet center has students acting like bakers while matching standard and base ten forms of numbers. Adding actual cookie sheets, plates or small serving trays adds a layer of fun!
