Digital Toothy Task Cards FAQ’s and Answers

Digital Toothy, Technology, Toothy, Virtual Resources

Written by: Angie Olson

The #1 request sent in by teachers over the past few years has been, “Will you be making Toothy digital?” After extensive research and planning, Digital Toothy Task Cards are now a reality! Below you will find all of the most frequently asked questions and answers to help teachers make the best decision for their classroom.

How do Digital Toothy® Task Cards work?

Students solve 24-26 problems on a digital task card within every skill. Then they choose the answer from three choices. If the answer is correct, a tooth gets placed in Toothy’s mouth. If the answer is not correct, they go back to the problem to solve again.

What kind of devices are compatible with Digital Toothy®?

Digital Toothy® works great with iPads™, laptops, desktops, and Chromebooks™. This file has two digital versions. PowerPoint™ will work on the iPad™ with the free PowerPoint app (no sign-in required). This file is also provided in the form of Google Slides™ for Google Classroom™. We have been told that this can work for Kindles™ through sharing the Google Slides™ link through SeeSaw™ but we haven’t tested this.

Can I check their answers?

We recommend using the recording sheets that are provided if you want to grade this activity.

How do I get the Digital Toothy Task Cards onto the students' devices?

There are detailed, step-by-step directions located inside the appropriate folders for both the digital versions of this resource. The directions will tell you exactly what needs to be done.

What do I do about some of my students who struggle with reading the story problems?

We have provided an audio recording of each story problem. This will work on both digital versions of these Toothy® Task Cards.

Can more than one student play at the same time?

Yes! One license will provide your entire class to all play these games at the same time.

If I already own a printable Toothy® Bundle, how do I upgrade?

We will keep the cost of the digital bundle low to allow for an affordable additional product if you already own the printable version.

Does it make sense to own both the printable and digital versions?

Yes, but don't take this opinion from me! Here is what other teachers are saying!

“I tested this out today with a few of my students and they LOVED it. It was easy for them to use through Google Classroom. I also have the paper version of the Toothys and I definitely see the benefit of having both for different purposes. SO good for some extra help for my struggling students or early finishers' work. It did take a while to save it all to my Google drive-but worth the time and quicker than cutting out! Toothy has helped improve the quality of my stations BIG time!” -Shelby D.

“I have the paper version of toothy and loved it but this version is PERFECT for google classroom on the go. I don't need to watch them as closely for it which is AMAZING during small group rotation!” -Sarah M.

“I love the paper version but this digital version is the best! I love being able to assign to specific students and they love working on the computer!” -Laura K.

Can I test out Digital Toothy before buying the bundle?

Yes, absolutely! In fact, I prefer that you do so you can make sure that these Digital Toothy Task Cards work well for your students!

Can I choose the skills they are working on or is it random?

The skills are not random and you can definitely choose the skills that you want your students to practice. There are 70+ sets in the Math Bundle alone! Check out THIS post for directions on how to assign digital Toothy by skills. Read THIS post to learn how to assign digital Toothy to Sessaw

Do you have Toothy Task Cards that are not digital?

Yes! We have many Toothy Task Card Bundles for a variety of skills and grade levels. You can find them below.

I launched these today! OMG the kids were super excited to get to my group! They love paper toothy but this was a blast! When the tooth changed to another color that took them to another level of excitement! I am super excited to have the kids working on these and they are learning so much! Thank you everything and making my life so much easier! Plus admin loves this!

I am using the digital math toothy and my students love it. How do I check their answers? I look at grades and it just says /100. So I’m not sure what I am not doing.

Is there a way to see how the students answered after completing the TOOTHY activities?

      Hi Joele!
We recommend having your students use the recording sheet that comes with Digital Toothy to keep track of their answers. When they are finished you can have them take a photo of the sheet and email it to you. Thanks so much for your question and have an awesome day!

Are the digital and paper versions the same?

      Hi Kaye!
Yep! The only difference is that one can be used on digital devices, and the other is meant to be printed out and used. I hope this helps!
