Save Time & Stress with the Right Tutoring Resources

All Access, Teacher Support

Written by: Katie Palmer

Tutoring is a valuable tool for students to reach success, but many teachers who tutor on the side face the challenge of spending hours searching for suitable tutoring resources. Often, these materials end up being low-quality or just filler activities. So, where can teachers find tutoring resources that are standards-aligned, effective, and engaging for students? We’ve got the answer, a one-stop shop for all your tutoring and teaching needs!

Let’s tackle the common problems faced when searching for the right tutoring resources.

Problem 1: Too Many Low-Quality Freebies

Free resources can save money, but they often fall short in quality and student engagement. When you try to piece these together into a tutoring plan, it disrupts the flow for students. They miss the chance to get comfortable with a consistent routine, leading to more time spent on explaining directions rather than jumping straight into learning. It can be hard to patchwork free resources to a tutoring goal: reading fluency for example. Let’s take a peek at how the teacher-created, standards-aligned resources in All Access can help you meet this goal.

Example:

Student tutoring goal: Improve reading accuracy and flow.

Resource: Sentence Pyramids – Since All Access contains a collection of these, once your student knows the routine, this will become an easy to use tutoring resource!

Routine:

  1. Introduce the sentence pyramid to your student. Show the structure, model how to read the pyramid and practice the featured sight words.
  2. Guide your student reading the pyramid, focusing on becoming less choppy and no big pauses.
  3. Now it is time for your student to read the pyramid independently to you.
  4. Be sure to set & track goals with your student. They can graph their own data to feel success!

Problem 2: Disorganized Materials Waste Time

Digging through folders, either on a computer desktop or in a filing cabinet wastes time that could be spent tutoring or prepping future lessons. All Access has your solution! In the membership library you can filter your search to find exactly what you need in minutes (or less)!

Example:

You need to quickly find resources for a student needing help with addition fact fluency. Check out how easily the All Access filters can help with this!

Website filter options on the left-hand side of a screen showing subject categories like Math and Geometry, emphasizing how to begin a search for effective tutoring resources.

Example of using a website’s search bar to look up “fact fluency” worksheets, demonstrating how to quickly find targeted tutoring resources for math skill-building.

Problem 3: One-Size-Fits-All Doesn’t Work for Tutoring

Tutors work with students who have a wide range of academic needs. Unlike regular classroom lessons, their plans are tailored to practice the specific skills each student needs. Each student on their caseload needs different resources and material. Digging through resources online to find the right materials can seem impossible, but having access to leveled and differentiated resources makes it so much easier to meet each student’s unique needs. This is where All Access can help!

In the membership library, you can find differentiated reading passages (in 3 levels), two levels of Spiral ELA & Math, along with grade level filters to find resources to fit any student.

Three versions of the same reading passage titled “The Giant Troll,” labeled below level, at level, and above level—ideal tutoring resources for tiered reading support.
