As teachers, our plates are constantly overflowing. Luckily, emerging technology can help with that. In this post I am talking about AI for teachers, and 5 ways this assistive technology can save you time…and sanity!

The five tools we will be exploring are:
1. ChatGPT – Lesson Planning & Classroom Ideas
By now, most people have heard of, or maybe even used, ChatGPT. It is one of the most popular AI for teachers tools! Think of ChatGPT as your personal teaching assistant. There are SO many ways this AI platform can lighten your workload, and this post goes in depth. Let's highlight the main ways I use ChatGPT to increase my teaching efficiency.
- Brainstorming lesson plans/activities tailored to 1st and 2nd grade levels (e.g., play-based and hands-on activities). An example prompt would be, “What is a lesson or activity idea for 2nd grade addition using manipulatives. I need lesson ideas for 5 days.” It will make a lesson plan for you in seconds!
- Crafting parent communication templates (e.g., newsletters, special day notes or emails).
- Coming up with report card comments for every student.
- Book recommendations for any topic.
- Last minute ideas!
- Bulletin board ideas….I could go on and on!
I used the example prompt and had ChatGPT plan out a week of addition lessons (with manipulatives) for me.

I then went a step further and had it provide an end of week assessment for me. (It even included an answer key!)
2. Quizziz
Quizziz is packed with AI for teachers tools to save you time!
Here are just some of the possibilities with this AI platform:
- Create assessments to gauge student understanding.
- Create exit tickets.
- Easily create differentiated activities, assessments or pop quizzes.
- Create follow-up questions for YouTube videos, worksheets, documents or any website or article…and so much more.

3. Suno
I recently learned about Suno, and my mind is racing with ideas for its classroom applications! Suno is an AI for teachers tool that turns your typed in prompt into a song. The songs do not sound robotic at all, but are catchy tunes.
Ways to use Suno in the classroom:
- Instantly create tunes to help students memorize concepts. (Think math songs, phonics songs, etc!)
- Create transition songs (for cleaning up, lining up, etc)
- Make story time even more engaging by creating songs to pair with favorite books.
- Using song lyrics written by students (use this template), have Suno turn them into real-life songs.
- Create a song for weekly celebrations: student of the week, holiday parties, etc…

4. Canva for Classroom Visuals and Resources
With Canva, teachers can quickly create visually appealing classroom materials like charts, worksheets, and bulletin board designs. The drag-and-drop interface and free design elements make it accessible even for those without design experience. There are even tons of already made activities you can instantly download!
