4-Week Introductory Period — Terms
Employment Status
The Social Media Strategist is hired as a full-time, at-will W-2 employee of Lucky Little Learners from their first day of employment. This is not a contractor arrangement.
Purpose
The first 4 weeks serve as a mutual evaluation window — for LLL to confirm the role and responsibilities are a strong match for the employee’s skills, and for the employee to confirm LLL is the right fit for them.
Compensation During the Introductory Period
Employees are paid at the full agreed salary rate for the role, on LLL’s standard payroll schedule, from day one.
Check-In Cadence
| Milestone | Focus |
|---|---|
| End of Week 2 | Informal check-in — early feedback both directions, clarify expectations |
| End of Week 3 | Formal progress review — assess against role responsibilities and initial goals |
| End of Week 4 | Final introductory-period review — confirm transition to standard ongoing employment, or address concerns |
What’s Being Evaluated
- Ownership of core operations tasks (trackers, timelines, graphic design, data tracking and analyzing)
- Quality and stats of social media content
- Communication, follow-through, and reliability
- Fit with the Lucky Little Learners leadership team
At the End of the 4 Weeks
- If expectations are being met, the employee continues in the role under standard ongoing employment terms (full benefits eligibility begins).
- Because employment is at-will, either LLL or the employee may end the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause, consistent with Minnesota law — this applies throughout the introductory period and afterward.
- If concerns exist but the fit still seems promising, LLL may offer a brief extension of the introductory period rather than proceeding straight to separation.
