With spring right around the corner, many teachers begin their hunt for the perfect springtime activities to keep students learning, engaged and having fun. Our team worked to compile a list of our favorite classroom activities for spring, to make this season bloom! Scroll through the list, select an activity or few and let the springtime fun begin!
1-Interactive Outdoor Phonics
Get your students outside playing with chalk (which they LOVE) with an academic purpose! All you will need is sight words (or Phonics Ladders) and chalk!
2-Take the Learning Outside
Fresh air can make a world of difference when it comes to student behavior. When they start to feel restless, grab your lesson supplies and head out the door. Some ideas of what to bring:
- Pencil box to hold a class set of pencils. (Otherwise you know there will be many pencils lost somewhere outside! HA!)
- Read alouds. Here are some spring book ideas plus corresponding activities: Springtime Read Alouds.
- Use nature materials for math manipulatives! Find rocks, twigs, pinecones or leaves already on the ground. Your students will love searching for these!
3-Five Senses Anchor Chart
Another outside idea, do you sense a theme here? Get students outside and interacting with an anchor chart on a five senses hunt. Have them list things the see, smell, hear, touch outside. (This would be a great way to get an adjective discussion going!) Taste is a bit harder. Be sure to have a chat about not eating wild berries or anything they find outside. Ask what they can “taste in the air” or bring out a snack to eat while outside.
4-Have a Classroom Campout
Have you ever wished you could bring your class camping? Well, now you can…without leaving the classroom! Set up desk tents, bring out the books and camping resources and ta-dah! Your classroom has become a kids dream! Find out more: Camp Read-a-Lot.
5-St. Patrick's Day Crafts
Make this super cute and easy Lucky Rainbow Chain with students. What a cute decoration to hang in the classroom, plus students will be left feeling gratitude for all they have in their lives.
Making a leprechaun trap can be time consuming, but it is a great activity to build STEM skills. Plus: students get crazy excited about it!

6- Easter Egg Math
What student doesn't like an egg hunt? Put an academic spin on this fun activity by hiding math problems in each egg. Students will find the eggs, solve the problems and then put the egg back for the next student to find.
7-Earth Day Activities
These craft ideas come from Tik Tok user Callmemoprah. She did several fun and easy crafts with her students on Earth Day.

9- Plant Seeds
This idea comes from Tik Tok user thoughtfulllysustainable. Grab those toilet paper tubes or newspaper and let students make their own seedling pots! OR, you can try the beans in a baggie window planting trick!
Thanks for the great idea @mamabearshark!
