50 Teacher Mindset Mantras to Build Your Resilience

Teaching is truly one of the most rewarding professions, and for a good reason. It's a journey filled with moments of inspiration, growth, and transformation. However, like any journey, it can also come with its fair share of challenges and obstacles. Sometimes those challenges can steal away our positivity! So, we went to our community of 100,000+ teachers and asked, “What are teacher mindset mantras that have helped you build your resilience in the face of teaching challenges?

1. Every day is a new day.

2. These students were placed in my class for a reason. There’s a reason I’m their teacher and not anyone else.

3. I'm fine, it's fine, everything is fine. You got this. One thing at a time.

4. Do what you can, when you can, with what you have, and let that be enough.

5. Calories don’t count on Mondays or Fridays.

6. Let it go… (The Frozen song)

7. Don’t take things personally.

8. Do what you can with what you're given.

9. Take time for yourself!

10. You can’t do it all.

11. Try to make one moment magical every day with your students, even if it’s just a few minutes.

12. Go slow to go fast! The beginning must be slow and teach all the routines and rules well.

13. I’m allowed to do what’s best for me, even if it make others upset. When we get into this mindset of push through and sacrifice, its for the kids. It easily turns toxic. You are a human being that needs to be honest about your needs and you are valid in making yourself a priority. If my cup is empty how do I pour?

14. It’s going to be a great day.

15. You are making an impact!

16. Not my monkeys, not my circus.

17. Every student you have is a child of God.

18. Good enough, go!

19. Close your door and teach.

20. Progress over perfection.

21. You can only do what you can do.

22. One day at a time!

23. Let them be your therapy. Never let them drive you to it.

24. Don't sweat the small stuff… with your students, staff, and admin.

25. Work smarter, not harder.

26. If you respect them, they’ll respect you. Build strong relationships and love them!

27. Every day is a new day and we’ll try again tomorrow.

28. “For such a time as this”. I never know when a specific child may be just what I needed that year. I never know when I may be just what a specific child needed that year.

29. “And whatever you do, do it heartily…”- Colossians 3:23

30. Those evaluations? They're like a buffet. Take what you want and leave the rest.

31. Love them first.

32. Pick your battles.

33. Do what you can, with what you have.

34. Do not work on the weekends. Weekends are for family, friends, and recharging so you can be your best.

35. It’s a job and I am replaceable. I do my best, but I’m not willing to sacrifice my health or happiness.

36. I have some Bible verses around my classroom so I can remember to be patient and remind myself that I’m doing the work of God with my special children.

37. Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved.

38. Happy children learn.

39. It's not our job to toughen our children up to face a cruel and heartless world. It's our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless.

40. Love them first, teach them second.

41. I can do hard things.

42. You cannot pour from an empty cup.

43. Do what you can, love them, and let God guide you.

44. Q-tip (Quit taking it personal)

45. My best is good enough.

46. Save yourself! Always remember that you need to take care of yourself.

47. This too shall pass.

48. Keep it simple.

49. It ain’t Harvard- it’s first grade.

50. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
