What a school year! It is hard to believe Earth Day (April 22nd) is already approaching! Earth day can be a fun day in the classroom. One way to make it even more fun – an Earth Day Classroom Transformation! Bring this important holiday to life by turning your classroom into a springtime celebration of Earth! Classroom transformations are super engaging and will be fondly remembered by your students for years to come.
Check out the list below, which includes math, science, and language arts activities, to transform your classroom into an Earth Day extravaganza! (And all are Covid-safe activities!)

2. Community Clean Up
Grab those gloves and trash bags (if the district allows it!) and clean up the community! This teaches students to care for the community. It shows them how easily they can give back! (AND it gets them outside for fresh air!)
3. Spring Themed Centers
April themed Math centers are the perfect way to fill your math block during your special earth day.

4. Art Activities
Doing art (while playing music in the background) is a GREAT way to keep the Earth Day excitement going AND gets kids relaxed (and the room a quiet, peaceful place). Check out THIS great list of Earth Day crafts complied by The Craft Train.
5. Videos & Songs
There are MANY videos and songs that can be used to get kids to understand Earth Day and the reasons behind it. Check out THIS Earth Day post FILLED with helpful links and ideas…AND FREEBIES!
6. Decorations/Extras
To really pull together the “Earthy” feel for this classroom transformation, try adding a few decorations. Buying reusable (reusable=a plus for the Earth!) green and blue table cloths from a dollar store and drape them across tables. Add green paper islands to the blue table cloths. Add paper trees and mountains to the green table cloths, or have the students do this. Bring in fake trees to create a forest feel.
Treat time: Earth Worm Cups! To make this sweet treat, crush chocolate cookies (for the dirt). Layer crushed cookies and chocolate pudding in a clear cup. Last, add gummy worms to finish off this “cup of dirt”. Students will LOVE eating this treat, and will joke about how good “dirt” tastes.
Bonus: a gift! Amazon has super cute mini globe stress balls to hand out to students at the end of the day. Note: The link below is an affiliate link. This means that if you purchase the item through this link, I will earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
